Every once in a while, I am approached with some amazing opportunities. Whether it be reviewing a musical artist or talking about something that I am passionate about. For the past two years I have been able to achieve several goals in my life and it is because of all of you amazing people that those things have happened for me. Today is one of those days where I get to share something that I feel has an inspiring message.
The Just, Girl project was started by Ilana Harkavy, a singer-songwriter out of California. She has just released her first EP and it is a small collection of songs written to help empower young women. She was inspired to create her album after stumbling across groups on Facebook and other social media sites promoting things from eating disorders to self-harm. The idea of those kinds of groups were not-only heartbreaking to her, but disturbingly relatable. She decided to take her skills as a singer and songwriter and put them to good use.
Ilana is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to help her raise money to that she can share her message with young girls everywhere. I was approached to share her message and campaign and I couldn’t turn it down. I feel that women everywhere deserve to feel good about themselves.
