I think that this is very important for every author to do at some point during their career. I mean, who are you writing for? What do you want them to take away from your work? Having a defined image will help you become a better author.
This is always great advice 🙂 I remember when I first ran into it and I was like “I don’t know!” but then I started looking at people who I knew liked my work and started looking at what connected them – what did they have in common? so I kind of reverse engineered my answer 🙂
