We parked and got out. He took my hand again and we set off down the trail. We strolled arm in arm laughing and talking about our different like and dislikes, granted I had to make some of mine up.
“What is your ideal dinner date?” He asked me, nudging me with his shoulder.
“You are planning on there being a dinner date?” I poked at him. “That’s awfully presumptuous, don’t you think?”
“I thought this one was going well enough to assume there would be more.”
I giggled as we walked into a clearing. It was the same clearing from my dream. There wasn’t any snow, but this was it. The bench perfectly set near the trees, and bushes on either side. This was it. I stopped in my tracks.
“Harper, what’s wrong?” Silas looked in the same general direction, unsure of what had spooked me.
“Nothing,” I closed my eyes and shook my head, trying to get the shock out of my head. When I opened them, Celine was there. Instead of being strapped to that awful table, she was strapped to the bench.
‘Harper, you have to help me.’ She sobbed in my head.
“Harper, what is wrong?” Silas took me by both of my shoulders and shook me. I felt my legs give out and the world went dark. “Harper!”
